At MiTek Sweden, we are always striving to improve our products and push the boundaries of what is possible in the building sector. That is why we were excited to visit Linnaeus University in Växjö to witness the stress testing of our new hybrid Posi-Joist product.
The testing lab at the University was equipped with all the latest technology, including sensors and computers to monitor how the Posi-Joist reacted to the pressure during the test.
This was a “test to failure” which meant that the University team took the hybrid Posi-Joist to its breaking point to measure its short-term and long-term deflection.
The preliminary results from the testing were very positive and we are eagerly waiting for the university to publish its findings later this year.
This is just the start of the testing process, and we are confident that the research will help us to further develop the product.
The combination of different materials used in our hybrid Posi-Joist makes it unique. By using steel, wood, and concrete together, we are able to take advantage of each of them material’s positive properties and create a strong and sustainable joist that will allow for long spans.
At MiTek Sweden, we believe in pushing forward the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for the building sector and this project is a testament to that.
