As a first for MiTek, a six level all wood frame building is being built using Posi-Joist.
The 26-home apartment building is currently under construction in the picturesque town of Torsby in the Värmland region of Sweden.
The project is being undertaken by Bill Impola, a former elite long-distance skier and local sporting hero. Since retiring from professional cross-country skiing in 2017, Bill has moved into property development. Following a number of smaller scale housing projects, he felt it was time to tackle a bigger challenge.
For MiTeK, it is the first time its floor joist system known as Posi Joist is being used on a 6 storey building. Chosen for its off-site manufacture, easy installation, high span strength and excellent acoustic and vibration qualities, Posi Joist has been the perfect product for the build.
“We had no experience with Posi Joist before this project. But when Stefan from MiTek showed us what was possible with the product, we decided it was right for us.
Two people can handle everything from plumbing to electrics. We would definitely use this system again for future projects.” Commented Bill Impola.
